About the event

Inscribed by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Fado is best known as the urban popular song of Lisbon, Portugal. But, like any art form, it has varied influences and it continues to evolve.

Raízes e Ramos (Roots and Branches) was formed in Toronto in 2011 with the desire to bring this rich genre of music to a wider audience.

Join vocalist, Jessica Lloyd, and guitarist and vocalist, Louis Simão, as they take you on a journey through the ages and landscapes that together weave the musical threads of Fado. With the combined forces of these two musicians, you will experience the roots of the traditional sounds of the famed Lisbon Fado houses before you are whisked away to the branches of Fado on the shores of Brazil, Cape Verde, Angola and... Canada.

Tickets are $25 per person and includes a glass of wine and a choice of available petiscos (Portuguese tapas).

Main menu is a la carte.

Doors open at 6pm

Fado begins at 7pm.

NOTE: The Fado performance will be divided into short sets with 15 minute breaks in between for guests to talk, relax and order more food and wine. It is customary and appreciated that guests are silent during the performance.
